Unitarian-Universalist Humor

While preparing a lecture I have to give at our local UU church, I found this very funny UU joke on the internet:

"Have you heard about the latest UU miracle?"

"Someone claims to have seen the face of Ralph Waldo Emerson on an organic whole wheat tortilla"

I'm using it today. Know others? Send them on!

Following is the schedule for the 2008 presidential debates, as announced by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which has governed all presidential debates since its formation in 1987.

There will be three debates between the presidential candidates, and one between the vice presidential candidates. All debates will begin at 9:00 pm Eastern (6:00 pm Pacific), and will last 90 minutes. Each debate will be led by a single moderator.

1st presidential debate
Friday, September 26
Moderator: Jim Lehrer
Location: University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS
Topic: Domestic Policy

Vice presidential debate
Thursday, October 2
Moderator: Gwen Ifill
Location: Washington University, St. Louis, MO
Topic: Foreign and Domestic Policy

2nd presidential debate (town hall)
Tuesday, October 7
Moderator: Tom Brokaw
Location: Belmont University, Nashville, TN
Topic: As determined by questions

3rd presidential debate
Wednesday, October 15
Moderator: Bob Schieffer
Location: Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
Topic: Foreign Policy

In each debate except the town hall meeting, the candidates will be seated at a table with the moderator. Each of these debates will be divided into eight 10-minute segments, with the moderator introducing each segment with an issue on which each candidate will comment. After that, the moderator will facilitate further discussion, including direct exchange between the candidates, for the remainder of that segment. Each debate will end with closing statements by the candidates.

The audience for the town hall meeting will consist of undecided voters in the Nashville, TN, area, selected by the Gallup Organization. Questions will be solicited from the Internet as well as from the town hall audience. Questions will be reviewed by the moderator to avoid duplication.

To be included in these debate, a candidate must: (1) be constitutionally eligible to the office sought; (2) appear on a sufficient number of state ballots to have a mathematical chance of winning the election; and (3) have a minimum of 15% support in national polls prior to the debate.
